Language of the Month - February (French)

Conversational Activities

Every week, each language section organizes and participates in a Conversation Hour Activity that helps to improve linguistic and cultural fluency. Students work with their Resident Language Fellows to think of ideas that are of interest to them, and to implement them.

This semester, the Conversation Hours will take place in the Language Resource Center, room G25, Stimson Hall. The schedule is below (click on the month to see the topics for that month):

Spring Semester Schedule TBD!

Weekly Meals

Residents in each language section meet three times per week over dinner or brunch to practice their language skills.

The three meals are as follows:

Alice Cook House House Dinner: Once a week, LH students join the Alice Cook House students for dinner for the weekly House Dinners that are held across West Campus. These are wonderful opportunities for the LH students to mingle with each other and other ACH residents.

Additional meals: In addition to the meals above, LH students meet two more times per week to eat together, based on the schedules of the group.  These are smaller, more intimate dinners in which the LH students have the opportunity to practice and speak their language of study and in which friendships are strengthened.

If you have a meal plan, you are free to join the meals. Contact the Resident Language Fellow for the language section you are interested in joining.

All House Events

In addition to the target language/culture-centered dinners and weekly Conversation Hour activities within the language sections, regular inter-section and house-wide programs are aimed at nurturing intellectual and social interests shared across the languages, fostering friendship between sections, and promoting a stronger sense of community among all program participants.
